Product Manager – Foil

Location - Katwijk

ABOUT THE ROLE

At North Actionsports, home to iconic watersports brands like North Kiteboarding, North Foils, North Windsurfing, and Mystic, we design and build world-class equipment for riders who demand the highest levels of performance and reliability. From first concept to final production, everything we create is driven by innovation, precision engineering, and a deep connection to life on the water.

We’re looking for a Product Manager – Foil to be the operational engine behind our foil range across disciplines. In this role, you’ll translate category strategy into clear product briefs, structured development plans, and commercially strong foil assortments. You’ll own the full product lifecycle — ensuring every foil system meets rider needs, performance targets, cost and margin goals, and is delivered to market on time.

Working at the intersection of R&D, Design, Sourcing, Marketing, and Sales, you’ll bridge long-term category vision with hands-on execution, turning complex technical concepts into market-ready foil products trusted by riders worldwide.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Development & Production

  • Lead end-to-end development of the Hydrofoil, Foil board and Wings ranges, from concept through production readiness
  • Own development timelines, milestones, and workflows in close collaboration with engineering and design
  • Translate product briefs into structured development plans covering materials, construction, modular compatibility, and performance targets
  • Coordinate prototyping, testing, and iteration cycles to support performance-driven decision making across disciplines (wing, kite, surf, wind)
  • Manage the handover from development to production, ensuring specifications, BOMs, and quality standards are approved
  • Monitor progress, identify risks, and drive corrective actions to ensure on-time, high-quality delivery
  • Partner with quality and technical teams to validate production readiness and certification compliance

Supplier & Cost Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key foil and component suppliers
  • Own cost targets and support value engineering and design-to-cost initiatives without compromising performance
  • Conduct supplier reviews covering cost, quality, delivery, innovation, and compliance

Quality, Compliance & Sustainability

  • Ensure products meet North’s standards for quality, safety, durability, and performance
  • Collaborate with compliance and sustainability teams to support ethical sourcing and responsible material choices

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Align closely with Category, Product Management, Marketing, Sales, and Supply Chain on priorities, launches, pricing, and forecasting
  • Support product launches with clear technical input, internal training, and product documentation

REQUIREMENTS

  • Engineering background with 5–7 years of experience in product management, preferably in action sports or technical consumer products
  • Strong affinity with advanced materials and hydrodynamics
  • Solid understanding of construction techniques across materials such as carbon fiber, aluminium, glass fiber, composites, plastics, and stainless steel, and manufacturing processes including pre-preg and wet layup, CNC milling, forging, casting, injection molding, and bonding
  • Experience working with modular product systems and tight tolerance components
  • Basic knowledge of relevant standards (ASTM, JIS, NEN)
  • Strong affinity with watersports — foiling experience is a big plus
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional, international teams
  • Fluent in English; Dutch is a plus

WE OFFER

  • A competitive salary and good pension scheme
  • Working in a dynamic, fast-growing company active in over 70 countries
  • Attractive staff discount on our products
  • Annual staff outing and monthly Thursday drinks

Who You Are

  • The Expert: You have 5–10 years of industry-specific experience in category management or a similar strategic function.

Product Graphic Designer

Location - Katwijk

North

Where engineering meets performance, and details make the difference.

About the Role

North products are instantly recognizable — bold, purposeful, and built for performance. As Product Graphic Designer – North, you are the creative force behind that recognition.

In this role, you own the complete visual identity of the North product collection (excluding Apparel). From wetsuits and harnesses to protection gear, accessories, hardware, and bags, you define how North products look, feel, and communicate at product level.

You lead seasonal visual direction, develop graphic systems and color architecture, and ensure every product speaks the North language — clearly, consistently, and powerfully. This role is purely creative: focused on visual design, brand identity, and storytelling. All technical engineering and construction development remain with the Technical Leads and Technical Designers — though you work closely with them to ensure your ideas are production-ready and perform in the real world.

Positioned at the intersection of brand, category, and product, you translate high-level creative direction into best-in-class product graphics that elevate North’s presence on the water and in the market.

What You’ll Be Working On

You’ll lead the visual execution across the full North hardgoods and equipment range, including:

  • Wetsuits

(Excluding Apparel)

What You’ll Do

  • Develop seasonal frameworks: mood boards, themes, graphic languages, and signature elements
  • Ensure all product visuals align with North’s brand DNA, tone of voice, and category strategy
  • Maintain a clear boundary between creative ownership and technical execution

Color Architecture & Trend Translation

  • Build, manage, and own the annual color roadmap for the North product collection
  • Translate trend research into commercially viable, manufacturable color palettes
  • Balance innovation and freshness with brand recognition and production feasibility
  • Ensure consistent, coherent color application across products, components, and materials

 Product Graphics & Visual Execution

  • Create and oversee all product graphics, including:
    • Panel graphics & branding
    • Logos, icons, labels, trims, and markings
    • Prints, patterns, and material expressions
  • Deliver clear, factory-ready visual artwork in close collaboration with technical teams
  • Focus on visual clarity, brand expression, and aesthetic impact, not construction detailing
  • Adapt graphic systems to different product shapes and constructions using technical input

 Technical Collaboration (Non-Engineering)

  • Work closely with Technical Leads and Technical Designers to understand materials, construction, and constraints
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, panel layouts, and material specifications
  • Adjust visuals based on technical feedback — without owning engineering solutions
  • Balance creative ambition with real-world production realities

Cross-Functional & Creative Collaboration

  • Partner with the Art Director to align product graphics with North’s overall brand vision
  • Collaborate with Category Directors to translate category positioning and commercial priorities into visuals
  • Act as the visual counterpart to Art and Category Directors at product level
  • Align creative intent, timelines, and priorities across brand, category, and product teams

Brand Alignment & Creative Governance

  • Maintain and evolve North’s product-level visual guidelines (excluding Apparel)
  • Ensure consistency across collections, seasons, and product families

  • Own and refine technical specs, BOMs, trim details, component libraries, and measurement charts.
  • Translate product briefs into robust, manufacturable engineering solutions with minimal supervision.

  • Analyse test results and convert insights into tangible engineering improvements.
  • Collaborate with the Technical Design Lead, product team, and athletes/testers to validate performance, comfort, and safety.

Material & Component Integration

  • Select and integrate advanced materials including EVA and foam systems, composites, molded plastics, webbings, hardware, reinforcements, laminates, and shell constructions.
  • Maintain and evolve component libraries (buckles, hooks, spreader bar components, harness parts, EVA pads, panels, and more).
  • Work closely with suppliers and Sourcing/QC to optimize performance, durability, manufacturability, and cost.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Product Managers to align technical solutions with briefs, timelines, costing, and launch goals.
  • Collaborate with Graphic Designers to correctly integrate artworks, labels, prints, and branding into technical files.
  • Communicate clearly with factories (via Sourcing/QC) to resolve construction questions and ensure production feasibility.
  • Provide technical input during internal reviews and cross-functional meetings.

Quality, Process & Mentorship

  • Conduct detailed reviews of development and pre-production samples.
  • Identify construction or material issues and propose corrective actions.
  • Support factory evaluations and audits together with Sourcing/QC.
  • Help refine technical workflows, documentation standards, and engineering processes.
  • Mentor junior technical designers, sharing best practices and raising overall engineering consistency.

WHO YOU ARE

  • 5–7+ years experience in senior-level technical designer or hardgoods engineer with strong, hands-on industry experience.
  • Deep knowledge of materials, constructions, composites, foams, hardware, and manufacturing processes.
  • Comfortable leading complex developments from concept through production.
  • Detail-driven, structured, and uncompromising on quality.
  • A natural collaborator who enjoys working across disciplines.

From crafting scroll-stopping social posts and slick YouTube thumbnails to designing trade and educational materials that look as good as they ride, you’ll bring creativity, clarity, and energy to every project.

If you’re passionate about design, fluent in visual storytelling, and can talk kerning and kites in the same sentence — we want to meet you.

What You’ll Do

  • Be the brand guardian — protect and evolve the North look, feel, and tone across every touchpoint.
  • Create high-quality, eye-catching content for:
  • Socials (Instagram, YouTube thumbnails, digital campaigns)
  • DPS and editorial layouts in magazines
  • Conceptualize and produce educational and trade materials like Product Books, Sonar Foils Rider Guide, and Schools Guide
  • Event and retail assets (posters, banners, POS displays, flags)
  • Keep our visuals fresh and aligned with both the brand’s values and the latest design and content trends.
  • Collaborate with the marketing, e-commerce, and product teams to bring campaigns and launches to life.
  • Stay plugged into what’s happening in the industry — from design and media trends to board sports culture.
  • Maintain organized creative libraries and templates that keep our visuals running as smooth as a downwinder.

What You Bring

  • A degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or similar.
  • 3+ years of creative design or content creation experience (bonus points if it’s in sports, outdoor, or lifestyle brands).
  • A killer portfolio showing your design flair and attention to detail. Please share it while applying.
  • Advanced skills in Figma, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign…),.
  • A sharp eye for layout, typography, and storytelling that moves people.
  • Self-starter energy — you bring ideas, not just tasks.
  • Comfortable juggling multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written).
  • Most importantly: a love for the water — Kite, Foil, Surf, or Windsurf — you get the vibe, the people, and the lifestyle.

What We Offer

  • A competitive salary and good pension scheme.
  • Work in a fast-growing global company active in over 70 countries.
  • Staff discount on our products (yes, that includes your next quiver).
  • Company lunch, gym, and wellness perks (boxing, massage, table tennis, pool, and more).
  • Annual staff trips, monthly Thursday drinks, and an office full of riders and creatives.
  • Space for creativity, personal growth, and real impact on a global stage.
