ABOUT THE ROLE

At North Actionsports Group, we design gear that performs when it matters most — on the water, in demanding conditions, and in the hands of riders who expect nothing less than excellence. From world-class kites and foils to premium accessories, our products are built to push limits.

We’re looking for a Senior Technical Designer – Accessories to take a leading role in the engineering and technical execution of all Accessories hardgoods across Mystic and North. This is a hands-on, expert-level position for someone who lives and breathes product construction, materials, and manufacturing — and who wants to shape the next generation of harnesses, protection gear, travel equipment, and performance accessories.

You’ll work at the intersection of engineering, innovation, and manufacturing, translating product vision into production-ready, premium designs. Along the way, you’ll help raise technical standards across the team and mentor junior designers to deliver consistent, best-in-class results.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

Technical Execution & Engineering Leadership

  • Lead the creation of detailed technical drawings, construction files, reinforcement maps, molded part documentation, and engineering specifications.
  • Own and refine technical specs, BOMs, trim details, component libraries, and measurement charts.
  • Translate product briefs into robust, manufacturable engineering solutions with minimal supervision.
  • Review, validate, and elevate technical work produced by junior designers.

Prototype Development & Sample Management

  • Lead prototype and sample rounds for assigned Accessories hardgoods.
  • Prepare and issue complete, factory-ready engineering files.
  • Evaluate samples for construction accuracy, stitching quality, hardware placement, molding consistency, assembly precision, and finishing.
  • Drive clear, structured improvements across sample iterations.

Testing & Performance Validation

  • Plan and support load testing, durability testing, ergonomics and fit validation, impact testing, and field testing.
  • Analyse test results and convert insights into tangible engineering improvements.
  • Collaborate with the Technical Design Lead, product team, and athletes/testers to validate performance, comfort, and safety.

Material & Component Integration

  • Select and integrate advanced materials including EVA and foam systems, composites, molded plastics, webbings, hardware, reinforcements, laminates, and shell constructions.
  • Maintain and evolve component libraries (buckles, hooks, spreader bar components, harness parts, EVA pads, panels, and more).
  • Work closely with suppliers and Sourcing/QC to optimize performance, durability, manufacturability, and cost.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Product Managers to align technical solutions with briefs, timelines, costing, and launch goals.
  • Collaborate with Graphic Designers to correctly integrate artworks, labels, prints, and branding into technical files.
  • Communicate clearly with factories (via Sourcing/QC) to resolve construction questions and ensure production feasibility.
  • Provide technical input during internal reviews and cross-functional meetings.

Quality, Process & Mentorship

  • Conduct detailed reviews of development and pre-production samples.
  • Identify construction or material issues and propose corrective actions.
  • Support factory evaluations and audits together with Sourcing/QC.
  • Help refine technical workflows, documentation standards, and engineering processes.
  • Mentor junior technical designers, sharing best practices and raising overall engineering consistency.

WHO YOU ARE

  • 5–7+ years experience in senior-level technical designer or hardgoods engineer with strong, hands-on industry experience.
  • Deep knowledge of materials, constructions, composites, foams, hardware, and manufacturing processes.
  • Comfortable leading complex developments from concept through production.
  • Detail-driven, structured, and uncompromising on quality.
  • A natural collaborator who enjoys working across disciplines.
  • Passionate about action sports, watersports, and performance-driven product design.
  • Experience mentoring or guiding others is a strong plus.

Senior Product Designer – Kite & Foil

Location - Katwijk

The Role

At North, product design doesn’t stop at performance — it looks fast, feels intentional, and tells a story before it ever touches the water.

We’re looking for a Senior Product Designer to lead the visual identity of our products across Kite and Foil. From kites and wings to boards, bars, foils, and hardware, you’ll define how North products look, feel, and show up in the world — season after season.

This is a purely creative, product-level design role. You won’t be engineering constructions or solving structural problems — instead, you’ll shape graphics, color systems, material expression, and visual storytelling, working closely with technical experts who bring your ideas to life.

Sitting at the intersection of brand, category, and product, you’ll translate North’s brand vision and category strategy into bold, confident, and unmistakably North visual design.

What You’ll Own

Product Visual Identity

  • Define and lead the seasonal visual direction for all Kite & Foil products
  • Create and evolve graphic systems, design languages, and signature elements
  • Build inspiring seasonal frameworks — mood boards, themes, visual narratives
  • Make sure every product instantly looks like North, without looking like last season

 Color & Trend Magic

  • Own the annual color roadmap across Kite and Foil
  • Turn trend insights into timeless, high-performance color palettes
  • Balance innovation, recognisability, and factory reality
  • Ensure color harmony across products, components, and materials

Product Graphics & Execution

  • Design graphics for:
    • Kites, wings, boards, foils, bars, hardware, and accessories
  • Create everything from canopy layouts and branding systems to logos, trims, icons, labels, and micro-details
  • Deliver factory-ready artwork that’s clear, clean, and production-smart
  • Adapt graphic systems to different shapes and constructions — without losing impact

Technical Collaboration (Without Engineering)

  • Work closely with Technical Leads and Designers to understand materials and construction
  • Read panel layouts, drawings, and specs to inform visual decisions
  • Adjust and refine visuals based on technical feedback
  • Push creativity while staying realistic about production

 Collaboration & Creative Leadership

  • Partner with the Art Director to align product visuals with brand direction
  • Work side-by-side with Category Directors to support hero products and commercial priorities
  • Act as the visual voice at product level
  • Mentor junior designers and raise the overall creative bar

Materials, Print & Real-World Performance

  • Design with a strong understanding of print techniques and material behavior
  • Collaborate with factories and suppliers on sampling and visual testing
  • Solve challenges around stretch, distortion, fading, and durability
  • Review samples and pre-production runs to ensure everything looks right — on land and on the water

Who You Are

  • 5–7+ years experience in senior product design, product graphics, or a similar creative role
  • Deeply visual, detail-obsessed, and brand-driven
  • Comfortable designing for technical, performance-led products
  • Fluent in turning ideas into clear, production-ready artwork
  • Confident collaborating with technical teams — without needing to be an engineer
  • Passionate about action sports, outdoor culture, or performance gear (strong plus)

Who You’ll Work With

  • Art Director
  • Category Directors (Kite / Wing / Foil)
  • Chief Brand Officer
  • Technical Leads & Technical Designers
  • Product Managers
  • Marketing & Creative teams
  • Factories, material suppliers, and riders

Why North?

Because here, design is not decoration.
It’s how performance is communicated.
It’s how innovation becomes desirable.
It’s how our products stand out before they ever get wet.

If you love crafting visual systems that live on real products, survive real conditions, and show up in some of the most exciting places on earth — this role is for you.

    • Logos, icons, labels, trims, and markings
    • Prints, patterns, and material expressions
  • Deliver clear, factory-ready visual artwork in close collaboration with technical teams

 Technical Collaboration (Non-Engineering)

  • Work closely with Technical Leads and Technical Designers to understand materials, construction, and constraints
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, panel layouts, and material specifications
